Ajinkya Rahane, who dazzled everyone with a 29-ball unbeaten 71 and made a significant contribution to Chennai Super Kings’ 49-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here at the Eden Gardens, believes the opportunities he received while wearing the yellow jersey allowed him to succeed in the shortest format.
Rahane discussed his excellent performance this season, which has included two 30-plus and two 50-plus scores, and his aggressive knock with an incredible strike rate of over 245 on Sunday after CSK claimed its sixth victory.
Rahane said that he now has opportunities to play, which is the turning moment. He added that a year or two ago, he had little opportunity to play. Rahane, who is regarded by many as a red ball batter and who has a T20 average strike rate of 121, asked how one would demonstrate their arsenal if they didn’t participate in games.
Rahane also said that he was delighted when CSK chose him. He added that they provided him with chances to play and be creative. He further added that when someone plays for Dhoni, they have the opportunity to learn a lot of things.
Rahane believes that because of the way the format of IPL is changing, one needs to continuously improve their abilities. He said that his preparation has always been effective and that he has always made an effort to get better and learn a few new moves, and now he can display them.
The former captain of India claimed that he trusted his own playing approach and that for him, timing the ball and playing excellent strokes are more important than considering anyone else.
Rahane, who last played for India in an ODI and a T20I in 2018 and 2016, said that he prefers to focus on the here and now.
