One of India’s most gifted and dynamic young cricketers, Rishabh Pant, was chosen to lead the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the Indian Premier League in 2021. (IPL). Pant, a regular squad member for several years, took up the captaincy from Shreyas Iyer, who had to bow out of the competition owing to injury.

Several people were surprised by Pant’s selection as captain because he has never previously served as captain at any level of cricket. But, the youthful wicketkeeper-batsman immediately proved himself capable of the job, leading the Delhi capital to the IPL final in 2021.

Pant had good tactical judgment while serving as captain, making wise bowling substitutions and encouraging his guys to perform under duress. Also, he was quick to take the lead and always sought to outplay the opposition with his aggressive style of captaincy. The 2021 season showcased Pant’s leadership abilities as he guided the group to several memorable victories, including a nail-biting victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2.
