Rahul Dravid spent his “relaxing” Sunday watching a cricket game without taking on any coaching responsibilities. The IPL 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) was viewed on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by the head coach of the India men’s squad.
Dravid remarked that it was enjoyable to watch a cricket match unconcerned. It’s interesting to note that throughout his playing career, Dravid captained both RCB (14 matches in 2008) and RR (40 matches in 2012–13).
Dravid said that when one sees it that way rather than as a coach, it is far more soothing and that as a coach, one is naturally much more involved with the game.
David also said that it’s really nice to watch the game while having fun. He added that his family was also present, and the atmosphere was pleasant and upbeat at the venue he finds wonderful. Further, he reminded me that he has also played for two teams, and so for him, it’s wonderful to occasionally watch a cricket match without giving it much thought.
Dravid stated that he is keeping one eye open as a coach and has the 50-over World Cup in the back of his mind. Dravid became India’s head coach in November 2021. The ICC tournament will take place in India in October and November of 2023.
The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June will be Dravid’s next task with the Indian squad.
