According to former Indian spin bowler Harbhajan Singh, Punjab Kings’ chances of winning the IPL 2023 without their captain Shikhar Dhawan are slim. At the PCA Stadium in Mohali, PBKS suffered their third loss of the campaign as they were defeated by Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore by a score of 26 runs.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan asserted that PBKS could not succeed without Dhawan, whose performances and captaincy have been outstanding this year. In four games, Dhawan has scored 233 runs at an average of 116.50.
Harbhajan stated that a player of Shikhar’s magnitude and captaincy has been truly spectacular, and he does not believe that this team can succeed without him. He added that there is no one who can match his status.
He continued by saying that they have some players, such as all-arounder Liam Livingstone, who can help them win games. For the game against RCB, the Englishman was back in the PBKS lineup, although he only managed to score two runs off of four balls.
Harbhajan also said that they do have certain players, like Liam Livingstone, who are capable of winning the game for their side on their own personal talent; however, even he fell short, scoring only 2 runs.
Prabhsimran Singh, the PBKS opener, has to grasp the value of a rotating strike, according to Harbhajan, who also noted that players like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Faf du Plessis had had success in this area. Despite Prabhsimran’s 46 runs off 30 deliveries, his team was unable to prevail at Mohali.
Following their defeat to RCB, PBKS will turn their attention to Mumbai Indians, with the two teams scheduled to square off on April 22 at the Wankhede Stadium.
