Outstanding bowling from Siraj lifts RCB to a victory over Punjab Kings

Thursday’s 24 run victory against Punjab Kings in Mohali was made possible by Mohammed Siraj’s four-wicket haul, 50s from Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, and other contributions.

Punjab Kings, who were attempting to score 175 runs, were dismissed for 150 in 18.2 overs as Siraj returned with the figures of 4-21 in his four overs of bowling.

While Jitesh Sharma scored 41 runs and Prabhsimran Singh scored 46 runs, neither player was able to get his team across the line of victory.

Earlier, when Sam Curran encouraged Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first, Faf du Plessis’ 84 and Virat Kohli’s 59 helped them reach 174/4 in 20 overs.

In their 137-run first wicket stand, Faf and Kohli, who was batting first, laid the groundwork for a large total, but Punjab rallied to win the game. Kohli and Maxwell were both caught by Harpreet Brar in quick succession.

Besides Brar, Punjab’s other wickets came from Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis.
