David Warner’s eye-catching reaction goes viral. When Jos Buttler successfully made the catch at far off in the final ball, Rajasthan Royals erupted in jubilant joy as Abdul Samad watched in utter dismay. However, the joy was short-lived when the umpire called a no-ball. Samad took advantage of the rare opportunity, hitting it for a six over the bowler’s head to give Sunrisers Hyderabad a record-breaking IPL chase in Jaipur. David Warner‘s eye-catching tweet about his old team SRH, which he sent shortly after the victory, lit up the internet.
Since Rajasthan had set a ridiculous target of 215 on their home pitch and considering how the visitors’ season had gone so far, it was a mad pursuit from SRH. Anmolpreet Singh, SRH’s impact sub, hit three huge shots in the powerplay to start the chase. His 25-ball 33-run ultimately came to a stop on the powerplay’s last ball. Rahul Tripathi and the young Abhishek Sharma then took control, putting up a 65-run partnership before the latter received assistance from Heinrich Klaasen in a 41-run partnership.
Sharma kept SRH in the chase with a 34-ball 55 that included five boundaries and two maximums, but the chase grew more difficult as Yuzvendra Chahal’s influence on SRH’s middle-order line-up spread. Aiden Markram, who returned for just 6 of 5, became Chahal’s fourth victim of the evening.
At the beginning of the last over of the chase, SRH were five down for 174 thanks to Chahal’s outstanding 4 for 29. Overs 40 and 41 were needed in the last two. Most people thought RR won the game, which may have moved them up to third place in the points standings. However, SRH still had a card to play.
SRH had Harry Brook use his abilities while Glenn Phillips had been warming the bench. Glenn Phillips came out firing. He single-handedly decreased the equation to 17 off the last over in the 19th over by slamming a hat-trick of sixes and a boundary in a blistering and match-changing cameo knock. Despite Phillips’ departure in the 19th over, Samad maintained his composure to help SRH set a record.
Following the game, Warner took to Twitter to congratulate his old squad and Phillips on his match-winning knock, twitting, “How goods the IPL, Glenn Phillips take a bow, Well played Sunrisers.”
