Several talented uncapped Indian players have shown their abilities in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Many seasoned players who have been a part of the IPL for some time are now experiencing a breakthrough season, despite the fact that some of the rising stars, such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ayush Badoni, and Nehal Wadhera, have exhibited excellent performances this season.
One such player who has made an impression with his performances is Jitesh Sharma of the Punjab Kings. Jitesh has accumulated 260 runs in 11 games while batting primarily in the middle and lower-middle order and boasts an amazing strike rate of 160.49. The right-handed hitter was originally a substitute for Sanju Samson in the Indian team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka earlier this month, but he was not selected for the playing XI.
According to Suresh Raina, Jaiswal is ready to play for India and already on the selectors’ radar and may soon be selected for the national squad.
Speaking about Jitesh Sharma’s likely selection as the team’s middle-order batsman who is the closest to MS Dhoni as a wicketkeeper-batter, former CSK star Suresh Raina expressed his opinion.
Raina stated that Jitesh is now playing wonderfully in the middle order, and has appeared in some noteworthy appearances. He added that Jitesh Sharma is an aggressive player and has previously played for India, but he can also be a fantastic middle-order batsman. Further Raina said that Jitesh’s ability to keep wicket is strong, and he’s definitely made an impression on everyone with his batting. Raina also said that the selectors would undoubtedly give Jitesh another look, and that he has excellent striking skills and will likely appear more frequently in the future.
